Full discography
One of my very first memories is music - my mam sung for me different songs, I still remember them. Then there were recordings - old scratchy LP's where behind the noise there was MUSIC - this miracle of life and beauty !
Then I grew up, studied at the Gnessins Music School, and in 1972 somehow I got my first professional recording session for Moscow Radio.
I recorded Scriabin Valse in A-flat (now that recording does not exist anymore - I am sure of that), and the microphones, the studio, producer and sound engineer fascinated me; but the most incredible was the sound I heard; it was very different with what I thought it is, but it was incredible!
Right from this moment I became obsessed with sound recording : I took part in placing the microphones, in editing, in plotting the score for editing - in all the important stages of creating a recording.
Then the technology changed ever so fast, and I kept on learning and discovering new, sometimes better ways of getting the sound I want.
Sometimes recordings are a snapshots - if they are live, or if there is that flavour of immediacy and directness in them; sometimes they are like a plastic surgery, when I try to create something I have in my mind but impossible in a real performance.
All my records named below are like a time machine - they reflect my evolution not only as a pianist, but as something close to be a sound engineer/producer.
Since the untimely death of my producer Eric Smith, I made a decision to produce my records myself, and it continues like that.
I also made a few commercial and demo CD's for other artists as a producer/engineer.
